CURRENT PLOT / SETTING CHANGES
These changes are in affect roleplay-wise and in-character as of Dec 4th 2017.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • In-character, it is now Year 2755 KD, Amilsa, the second month of the year (as of 12/4/2017).

  • The bells ring out across Thun. The High King, Athas of Bydon, has been murdered at his own Council of Houses meeting to decide the heir to the throne. Though he died of a stab wound, royal investigators suspect nethermancy was also employed to commit this heinous act of regicide. Ser Kaelen Rovelle and the Archduke's renegade wife are the prime suspects. A generous bounty has been issued on both of their heads - especially if they can be captured alive.

  • Since the High King died before an heir could be appointed, the Council of Houses elected his successor by ballot. The son of the late High King, young Elias Bydon, was coronated as monarch on 30 Nasytas, 2755 KD, which has been declared a public holiday by the new High King.

  • Until the new High King comes of age, the Archduke Artair Tadhgáin has been appointed as his regent. Symas Bame remains the High Steward.

  • The siege of Herrat has finally come to a close. Catherine Haust, the Hammer of Bamot, duelled with the Captain of the city's Knights Academia in order to bring the crippling stalemate to a conclusion. What was revealed was a terrible betrayal on the part of the Lord-Academic, who had tried to frame the Captain for his own criminal misconducts and turned his lieutenants against him. As a result, Catherine and the Captain decided to team up. Together they took down the traitors in the city guard and successfully arrested the Lord-Academic. The City of Herrat is now under the control of the Knights Academic once more, with a strong presence of the Order of Bamot to help restore the peace. Some are unhappy with the influence this affords Greater House Toden, though. It is estimated the city could take up to a year to recover from the effects of the Siege and betrayal.

    BORYS

  • Through the use of a decoy, the Allqueen's supporters were able to thwart those loyal to the Allking, and transport the lady and her child away to safety. It is unknown where she is now, but it is highly suspected that she is under the protection of her family in the Vardendrak Mountains.

  • On 9 Nasytas, the Folkmoot was officially begun in Halfjord, south of the great water. For a couple of weeks or so, the site swelled as nobility and traders from all across the country began to arrive and do their business while waiting for the Moot itself. The country was on tenterhooks waiting for a decision to be made about the situation of the Allqueen, who, her supporters say, was being unfairly incarcerated by her husband. Finally, the Ealdors and other high-ranking officials gathered to discuss the civil unrest. Here, Allking Olar revealed that his wife had been stolen away by traitors to the crown. To some, this is clear proof that the Allqueen was in danger, while to others, it damns half of the nation and legitimises the Allking's fury. Before any critical decision could be reached, a greater threat revealed itself to the entirety of the Moot . . .

  • Doomsayers had been fortelling the coming of winter for months. Dismissed as arbitrary ramblings, now the truth of it is plain. Previously dormant, a colony of ettinar - primordial ice giants believed to be responsible for the Gathering Cold - have resurfaced in the very north of Borys. As mysterious as they are plainly destructive, their presence in Borys is a threat to the existence of mortality on Tur, and they are moving south, quickly.

    --
    SAURIA
    --
    Image

  • After the Red Hand's defense of Tuma, the dusty border settlement has become a rallying cry among the common folk of the grasslands. They take up arms against the raiding parties of the Dragon Lords’, and any who would see their fields burned or their folk enslaved, not waiting for the princes of dirt to save them. Some inspired souls flock to Tuma, in hopes of learning from those who faced the Uk’braug, and survived.

  • The north-eastern borders of Sauria, where the heat of the Gardens of Fire still ravages the air, have always been a sore spot on the side of the nation, a wound that has never healed since the Dragon Gate opened. Recently, this wound has been festering. With the increased presence of the military in the area thanks to the Maharajah's sanctioned dragon hunts, raiders involved in the illegal slave trade have also propagated the region. It is believed the raiders work with the Uk'braug, taking captured villagers and even wounded soldiers across the border and selling them to the uk'ura. The Court of Princes is discussing sending a fully-fledged military campaign over the border after them, hinting at Sauria finally taking the ultimate leap into the war.

  • Amongst it all, the Maharajah still rules without a wife by his side.

    LOWLANDS
    --
    Image

  • When an asset of the Rugnosant army led by Kaldon Vindek slew a Dragua - the first in known history - it sent ripples through the world. The Uk'braugi, a fledgling nation founded on the prophecy of Gu'rai and an unwavering reverence of the Dragon Lords, has begun to splinter. Seeing that their gods can be slain by mere mortals, some renounce their faith. Some take it further, seeking to slay more Dragua to prove their own 'godlike' power. Others hold fast to the sinking ship of Grat. Others, still, seek out the warband that committed this terrible and awe-inspiring act of deicide, hoping to learn their strength, or perhaps, to find a new power to revere, or overcome . . .

  • The ancient uk'uran fortress of Valnagoth, previously in ruins since the Crusades, was restored by an effort motivated by Malvur Velik, Head Sayer of the Gorbold Tribe. It is a stronghold to rival Kalguru, and strengthens the weakened Uk'braugi presence on the warfront.

    --
    KALIMASJ
    --
    Image

  • In Osaghyle, the Neztharune Leopard Lords commenced the annual Winter Bardet, though they subverted previously-held tradition by inviting only a select few honoured guests. As festivities went on, it became clear that something strange was at work beneath the cool and cordial facade of the Isles' new rulers - some guests had disappeared, and none can say where they have wound up . . .

  • Strange occurances have been unsettling the inhabitants of Kalimasj. Freak electrical storms and strange changes in the earth, plants growing upside down and previously icy wells turning to the boil. No one can explain the phenomena, not even the wise Neztharune, who continue to revel in their palaces and to spurn the offers of Rugnosant diplomacy. When will the strange things happening in the Isles become too much? When will someone be called upon to investigate?

CURRENT PLOT / SETTING CHANGES
These changes are in affect roleplay-wise and in-character as of Dec 2nd, 2014.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • In-character, it is now Year 2754 KD, Issira, the sixth month of the year (as of 12/02/14).

  • The Summer Bardet ended on 25 Robaba. Notable events during the Bardet were -
    • the appearance of Andai, Azrul of Fate - there has not been a demi-god at any of the Bardets for many, many years and her arrival made many people wary of what was to transpire during the Bardet; it became clear during the Masquerade that it was the event she had come to witness as she left shortly afterward
    • several public weddings
    • "Alcye Ernsmith" wins the Wild Gardens Maze in honor of Borys
    • Cressida wins the first Drinking Contest
    • Steele wins the second Drinking Contest
    • the High Queen of Rugnos, Isana of House Mera, is killed in an attack during the Masquerade
    • a funeral is held in respect and honor of the Queen Isana's passing
  • Isana, High Queen of Rugnos, was killed during the Masquerade at the Summer Bardet. Though a funeral was held in her honor at the Bardet, another was organized back home, in the Rugnosant capital of Thun. Her death has greatly affected the people, as she was well loved - though he does well to compose himself, High King Athas's grief is apparent. Since the Bardet, Athas has been doubling his efforts on the Kalguru front against the Uk'braug.

  • Mid-Ch'tiry, the Uk'braug launched a massive attack against an outpost just outside of Kalguru. While Rugnos prevailed and the majority of the Uk'braug forces were defeated, it was only a day later that a force of drages assaulted the outpost. It was lost and there were very few survivors. It is now the common belief on the front that the dragons and the Uk'braug are working together.

  • At the beginning of Issira, the High King has called for arms for those loyal to the throne of Rugnos. Refusal to assist will now result in a charge of treason. Overall, it appears that Rugnos is starting to lose the war.

  • Heldolfa, Allqueen of Borys, has given birth to a young boy named Ascand. He is Olar's only son and, through traditional ceremony, has been named the heir for the Allking's Throne. Olar, Allking of Borys, has recovered from his illness and is doing well. In a gesture of condolences for the loss of the Rugnosant queen, his heart still soft from the recent kidnapping and recovery of his wife, Allking Olar has gifted Rugnos with supplies for his war effort against the Uk'braug.

  • Though Borys still remains neutral in the war between the Uk'braug and Rugnos, there have been reports of drages beginning to come northward and attack small humanoid settlements in the Lowlands. Borys is wary and beginning to fortify their defenses in the event of an attack.

  • Shezzar, the new Maharajah and High Prince of Sauria, is doing well in his new position. The Court of Princes favors him highly and there are plenty of politics to be had since the Bardet - many emiresses are vying for his attention as he is unwed and remains the most eligible bachelor in all of Sauria.

  • There has been a significant boom of drages (lesser dragons) attacking outlying Saurian settlements since Robaba. Shezzar has called upon the Court of Princes to hire slayers to eliminate the recent drage threat and they are being compensated heavily. Rumors suspect that, for those that are interesting in meriting his favor, that this is likely the best way to gain it.

  • There are tensions between Kalimasj and Rugnos due to the events of the Summer Bardet. Rumor has it that Athas is very bitter about the lack of security of the Masquerade - with trust broken, the alliance between the two nations hangs on a very fragile string. Kalimasj has enlisted in the Kalguru war to assist Rugnos against the Uk'braug, though their warriors are not as efficient when not out on open sea.

Updated 7/31/14 - former plot and setting changes added to the post below this one.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CURRENT PLOT / SETTING CHANGES
These changes are in affect roleplay-wise and in-character as of July 31st, 2014.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • In-character, it is now Robaba, the fourth month of the year (as of 7/31/14).

  • The Summer Bardet takes place during Robaba - it is a meeting of the people of the world in Oruan, the capital of Kalimasj. Merchants come to sell their wares, several events of celebrating peacemaking take place, and many politicians come to play their games.

  • The frequency of Uk'braug attacks against the Kalguru border has rised to threatening levels since Amilsa. There have been several major attacks by the Uk'braug against Kalguru and though some have been close battles, the Rugnosant forces have pulled through. However, supplies are getting low and the number of soldiers available is beginning to dwindle...

  • Heldolfa, Allqueen of Borys, is about seven months pregnant with her firstborn.
Isana of House Mera, High Queen of Rugnos, is about five months pregnant with her fourth child.

  • More rumors of dragons - however, none of them are officially confirmed...

  • Avakotet, Maharajah and High Prince of Sauria, passed away during the third week of Elista. Yvotani, the former Maharani, has successfully campaigned her son, Shezzar, to be chosen as the next Maharajah. It is likely Shezzar is going to have big plans at the Bardet to introduce his claim of the Saurian throne to the world.

  • Olar, Allking of Borys, has fallen ill. With his wife being very pregnant and his poor health, neither will be attending the Bardet. Ealdormen and Ealdorwomen of the Moot-Council will be going in their stead.

  • The former disputes between the Naityan and Neztharun clans of Kalimasj seem to have been settled - or at least made quiet - as the Bardet approaches. There is not much being said about it at this point.

Former Plot and Setting Changesshow spoiler
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CURRENT PLOT / SETTING CHANGES
These changes are in affect roleplay-wise and in-character as of June 8th, 2014.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • In-character, it is now Amilsa, the second month of the year (as of 6/8/14).

  • Rugnosant forces that are holding up the Uk'uran/Kalguru border have been experiencing more attacks and skirmishes organized by the Uk'braug. The frequency of these attacks has been increasing as of the beginning of Ossanwe. Rugnosant reports indicate that there may be something substantial going on and that an attack of a large scale take place soon. Rugnos is beginning to take defensive measures to brace itself of this possible strike.

  • The Summer Bardet is coming up and people of the world are preparing their wares for Robaba, the fourth month of the year.

  • Heldolfa, Allqueen of Borys, is about five months pregnant with her firstborn.
Isana of House Mera, High Queen of Rugnos, is about three months pregnant with her fourth child.

  • Rumors of dragons being seen at night or during storms have begun to spread like wildfire near Orgoth and Kalguru, though no official reports have been made. These rumors have spread throughout the world and a creeping fear and anticipation is beginning to build with the public, but no one is sure yet. This isn't the first time rumors like this have been spread, but the frequency recently has alarmed some people.

  • Avakotet, Maharajah and High Prince of Sauria, has fallen ill over the last month. As he has grown old and unhealthy, emirs have been publicly campaigning to earn favor of the Court of Princes since it is likely that a new Mahrajah will be chosen soon. It is no secret that Yvotani, the Maharani, has been trying to spin favor for her son, Shezzar, for consideration of the throne.

  • Recent quarrels in Borys have made Allking Olar displeased, especially since he suffered greatly at the kidnapping of his wife, Heldolfa. Though he has been doing much better since her return, rumors say that he is close to intervening with the affairs of the holds of his land to settle these disputes once and for all - something that he is not happy to do.

  • A small argument between the Naityan and the Neztharun clans of Kalimasj have made recent political tensions between the two. The Rashari, the current ruling clan of Kalimasj, does not seem to have any intention or concern of getting involved at this point.

  • Richard Rodvic of House Rodvic was nearly killed and his son was taken captive by a mage - there are rumors that Richard tried to kill both but there is no proof to these claims.

  • Maximilian Morir II proclaimed missing before he arrived a month later by hosting the Sable Ball. He has made an announcement that he is inducting Drakewatch into the family and heading the holding, while his younger brother heads Ironcross, their ancestral estate.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CURRENT PLOT / SETTING CHANGES
These changes are in affect roleplay-wise and in-character as of Aug 17th, 2015.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • In-character, it is now Year 2754 KD, Lornica, the eighth month of the year (as of 8/17/15).

    ---------------------------
    - RUGNOS
    ---------------------------

  • A warband of Uk'ura managed to infiltrate the Rugnosant front and razed several small villages until they came upon and destroyed the largest foresting colony in Rugnos in what became known as the Burning of Baith on 18 Issira. Though the majority of the warband was stopped, the surviving Uk'ura fled and disbanded. Prejudice and suspicion against Uk'ura rose considerably throughout Rugnos.

  • With Baith no longer operational and in a time of active war, Rugnos suffered a critical loss of wood and timber. Market and trade values shifted significantly, however, a timely reconstruction of Baith seemed unlikely. Late Issira, a group of people known as The Lamplighters formed to assist in the rebuilding of Baith.

  • Unexpectedly delayed, the rumors of Lamina Tributum - a country-wide mandatory call to arms - were true. In mid Issira, the High King of Rugnos issued the proclamation, much to the disapproval of the Council of Houses. A massive shift of power and authority took place as regions throughout Rugnos were lawfully required to conscript able-bodied men and women to the service of the throne in the Dragonfire War - including nobility, if the borderline unreasonable exemption tax could not be paid. Refusal to do so was considered an act of treason - commoners and nobles that publicly defied the Lamina Tributum were arrested throughout the kingdom.

  • Though the majority of noble families have complied to Lamina Tributum, an unspoken unrest woke amongst the nobility. Some said that it was a bold and necessary move against the Uk'braugi and their draconic allies - claiming Rugnos was losing the war. Others quietly argued that it was the unyielding demand of a man mad with grief. A divide had begun to surface between the polar political opinions and rumors of a noble uprising began to form.

    ---------------------------
    - BORYS
    ---------------------------

  • Beyond their small and mostly insignificant contribution to Rugnos as a gesture of their condolences at the loss of their High Queen, Borys remained largely unaffected by the Dragonfire War and Lamina Tributum - its concerns have centered on matters more local in the world. Late Robaba, it became clear that the child Heldolfa, Allqueen of Borys, bore was not of Allking Olar's seed, tainted with the undeniable bloodline of tiefling-kind. Declared a bastard child, Ascand was stripped of his claim to the throne, leaving the Allking with no heir.

  • Though she was not arrested outrightly for her infidelity, the fate of Heldolfa was uncertain - rumors stated she was imprisoned to her chambers by order of the Allking. Ealdormen loyal to Heldolfa's family began to pressure others into joining for a Moot to discuss Heldolfa's freedom and the security of the kingdom since it has been without an heir for so long. A significant shift of power and intrigue followed Heldolfa's imprisonment - several families gained political standing with the people and other lesser households.

    ---------------------------
    - SAURIA
    ---------------------------

  • The Call of the Maharajah ended in a successful culling of a small dragon population that was plaguing the northeastern zans of Sauria.

  • In early Lornica, Sauria officially declared war against the Uk'braugi and their draconic allies, joining the Dragonfire War alongside the Kingdom of Rugnos - however, no official alliance between the two nations was drawn, leaving the declaration in a temporary but mutually beneficial unification of the kingdoms, which would become a potential step in such a direction. By late Lornica, Saurian forces were beginning to deploy to the warfront bordering the northern edge of the Juthron Grasslands.

    ---------------------------
    - LOWLANDS
    ---------------------------

  • By the end of Yer'dyn, the war effort doubled at the cost of economic and political security. Rugnosant forces were successful in pushing back the Uk'braugi threat and scored a significant success at the Battle of Bayfondr.

  • Under the hand and guidance of Grandmaster Angelbane, Mardura has slowly begun to recover from the aftermath of the Battle of Mardura.

    ---------------------------
    - KALIMASJ
    ---------------------------

  • The death of a royal became a mark of shame on the Rashari legacy. By early Yer'dyn, a shift of favor has brought the favor of the Kalimasj Clans away from the innovative Rashari to Neztharune - the cunning leopard people of wealth and politics. Great changes came swiftly after the crowning of a new Pridelord and Cubmother - Neztharune declared by early Lornica that magic is no longer illegal in Kalimasj and that they would no longer assist Rugnos in the capture and branding of unmarked mages in the interest of embracing an identity separate from Rugnosant influence and returning to roots of Kalimasj culture.

  • The Greater House of Rajiv has also shifted its favor to support Neztharune and its rise to power.

CURRENT PLOT / SETTING CHANGES
These changes are in affect roleplay-wise and in-character as of Nov 6th, 2016.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • In-character, it is now Year 2754 KD, Nasytas, the tenth month of the year (as of 11/6/16).

    RUGNOS
    --
    Image

  • After the foresting colony of Baith was razed by uk'ura, the Lamplighters worked hard and succeeded in partially rebuilding the settlement. However, its livelihood has come under threat from the surrounding nobility, all of whom have suddenly expressed a vested interest in securing the important production landmark for personal means. Combined with whispers of sedition, it's begged the question - are the squabbling nobles' interests personal, or political?

  • In Lornica, a warband led by Kaelen T. Rovelle was sent out on a covert mission behind enemy lines, and they returned with something... unnatural. Despite the efforts of Commander Sicfara Ranis and High Steward Symas Bame to keep the identity of the captive a secret - at least until more intel could be gained - a break-out resulted in rumours spreading like wildfire throughout Rugnos. Rumours of a new race - a new enemy - half-uk'ura and half-dragon. They are called the drakkagi.

  • Cases of commoners and nobles alike resisting the call of Lamina Tributum became so rampant after the decree was issued, that it actually proved to be the opposite of effective. Foot soldiers were deployed to all areas of the vast kingdom in an attempt to enforce the law, resulting the armed forces being spread thin. Furthermore, many of those charged with upholding the Lamina Tributum disagreed with its principles, and were soon forced to give up their posts. It has become clear that many of them joined the people they were charged with conscripting. Since then, the growing independence and antagonism of the commoner classes has become a cause of concern to the Council of Houses, as well as to the feudal nobility in some areas.

  • Despite having three living children, the High King of Rugnos, Athas of Bydon, has not named an heir to his throne. As he sinks deeper into depression - and, some whisper, madness - the question is on everyone's tongues.

  • The need for lumber remains a critical problem for the realm since the Burning of Baith. Tarnossia has taken a firm stance against further deforestation of the Anari, and Everhana struggles to keep the peace between the Council of Houses and militant Wildkin. The Master of Commerce has begun trade negotiations with both Borys and the Kalimasj Isles to secure the extra lumber needed for the war effort.

  • The Siege of Herrat continues, with the faithful of the Order of Bamot surrounding the city, the local population of mages and scholars waiting for help inside the walls. The allegience of the Knights-Academic remains first and foremost to the city, but it could be only a matter of time before the prospect of starvation causes them to change heart - or so the besiegers hope. High King Athas has so far refrained from intervening, having approved the siege order months earlier.

  • Late Osaghyle, a sizeable colony of frost trolls surfaced in northern Sunderfell, brought out of their hibernation under the ice-caps by the growing cold of winter. Local settlements were destroyed but their direction or intention cannot be predicted. After all, frost trolls are unpredictable.

  • A mysterious artefact was unearthed in the Frostcaps by a team of explorers and novice spelunkers. Believed to be capable of extraordinary things beyond mortal imaginining, the item was transported to Herrat for examination. Word of Herrat's siege reached the Frostcaps slowly, it seems, and the chances of the item and its carriers reaching the city of scholars remains up to fate.

    SAURIA

  • Raids on Sauria's western shores by Rajiv privateers have begun to encroach upon the peace terms of the neighbouring countries. Although Emirs in western Sauria called for military action against Kalimasj and its allies, the Maharajah Shezzar seemingly ignored the pleas and redoubled focus on the dragons in the north of Sauria. Appealing to the Raj's disdain for the Tidetouched - which the Neztharune no longer persecute - is said to be a viable route to his attention, but as of yet, no formal alliance exists between the warring princes.

  • Gang warfare erupted in the city of Talam around issues of drug smuggling, tax evasion, and even illegal slave trade. The Emir, Raziel Isidore, has asserted absolute authority over the city and its surrounding area and enlisted the help of the mercenary group the Red Hand to clear out the trouble.

    LOWLANDS

  • Several magemarked members of the army's cadres fled following rumours that they would be "removed from service" - a rumour twisted, undeniably, by word of mouth, but close to the truth. In early Osaghyle, against the advise of half of his council, High King Athas announced the dismissal of all Tidetouched from commanding roles in the military. The fate of those conscripted to cadres remains unaddressed.

  • Thousands of successfully conscripted recruits reached Kalguru after two months of marching, and the ancient fortress found itself inundated with numbers. Added to the unrest caused by the drakkagi's surfacing, Kalguru has become less a crux of order, fraternity and military advancement, and more an overcrowded breeding ground of aggression, fear, and ignorance. Even so, command continues to try and train the new recruits as quickly as possible while maintaining a secure defensive position on the front. Plans stand to push into the Lowlands and secure northernmost uk'ura strongholds within the month... but progress makes the idea unfeasible at best, and terrifying at worst.

  • Although the uk'ura continue to contest unclaimed land and battle for prominence in the Uk'braugi Great-Tribe, their unity is at an all-time high. Repeated, systematic, crippling attacks keep the forces of Rugnos north of the Dark Forest, unable to advance further. It remains uncertain which side will advance first, though the Great-Tribe has dragons and worse on its side, whereas Rugnos is merely inundated with numbers.

    KALIMASJ

  • Since the Neztharune rose to power, the Isles have seen a significant shift back towards traditional culture and customs which took a back seat during the reign of the Rashari. The arts are thriving, and the internal economic system of Kalimasj is improving, causing the vast majority of the commoner class to rally in full support of the new ruling clan. However, foreign trade has all but halted, including the severence of several major trade deals established by Pridelord Ragir. Kalimasj seems to be retreating into itself, but perhaps it is in preparation for something bigger?

  • The Stage of Heroes, Antivene, was opened once more, causing a renaissance of gladiatorial combat and a renewed national interest in the martial arts. Meanwhile, criminal violence decreased in all regions of Kalimasj.

  • The Rashari remain quiet since their fall from power. After a single peaceful protest by those loyal to the Rashari, the heir to the Tiger Clan, Kiaan, was taken hostage by the Neztharune "to ensure peace".
